Asus

If you want something that sits somewhere between a tablet and a laptop, this ROG Flow Z13 is it. Under the hood, it has a midrange Intel Core i5-12500H CPU, and the screen is a 13.4-inch, 1080p display that can hit a 120Hz refresh rate. Now, usually, that sort of refresh rate is associated with gaming gear, but this configuration of the Z13 doesn’t have its own GPU. Instead, it’s made for those who want to play their games on the cloud or stream them, so if you do a lot of that, this would be a great option.

While not the latest MacBook Air in Apple’s lineup, the M1 version is still quite powerful and comes with a gorgeous 13.3-inch Retina display with a resolution of 2,560×1,600 pixels. It also has 8GB of RAM, a respectable 256GB of storage, and a battery life that goes well past 20 hours. At this price, this MacBook Air deal is a great way to get into the Apple ecosystem if you aren’t already.

LG’s largest convertible, the Gram 16, features a roomy 16-inch, 2,560×1,600 display and weighs only 2.6 pounds. And it can go all day: The big 80-watt-hour battery is rated to run for 19.5 hours. This configuration offers a 12th-gen Intel Core i7 CPU, 16GB of RAM, and a 1TB solid-state drive. We like it for anyone looking for a laptop with a big screen for productivity in a lightweight package for frequent travel. It features previous-generation Intel silicon but is still a good deal thanks to its hefty $700 discount.

msi-prestige-14
MSI

MSI’s take on the MacBook boasts a thin, sleek, all-aluminum enclosure. This model is $330 off when you pick it up from MSI directly and features a 12th-gen Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM and a substantial 1TB SSD, as well as an Intel Iris Xe GPU. The 14-inch display has a full HD resolution, but has the older 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio rather than the taller 16:10 ratio that provides more room to work. Still, this is a thin, light and rugged laptop and a great deal at its current sale price.

This Dell laptop is a good choice if you need some serious power to go along with a great 13.4-inch, 1,920×1,200-pixel display. Released just last year, it boasts an unconventional design with a borderless touchpad, a touch-sensitive row of Function keys and an edge-to-edge keyboard with flat keys that bump up against their neighbors. It all adds up to an unusually sleek look. It’s powered by a 12th-gen Intel Evo i7 CPU, along with a blistering 16GB of RAM and a substantial 512GB of built-in SSD storage. Read our Dell XPS 13 Plus review.

Dell Inspiron 2-in-1 16 in tablet mode
Dell

Two-in-one convertibles are great, and the Dell Inspiron 14 2-in-1 is a great option if you want something powerful and lightweight. Under the hood, you get a current Intel Core 7-1355U processor, which is not only efficient but can easily handle productivity and editing tasks. It also comes with an impressive 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, more than we usually see at this price, and the 14-inch screen runs at 1080p and is touch-enabled, so it’s easy to use in tablet mode. You can pick it up directly from Dell for just $700, down from the original $1,000.

What should you look for in a laptop deal?

One of the biggest things to consider is which laptop configuration is on sale. Often, with the best laptop deals, only a specific version of the laptop is on sale and making any changes to it could affect the price. This means that sometimes you find the 512GB model is actually cheaper than the 256GB option or a similar situation.

When are the best laptop deals available?

Generally, you’ll find the best laptop deals during back-to-school shopping time in late summer or early fall and a bit later in the year during annual Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales events. There are laptop deals available throughout the year, but if you’re looking for the best deal and can afford to wait a little, these are the best times of the year to buy one.

Which retailers usually offer the best laptop deals?

You can usually find deals across a variety of retailers when it comes to laptop sales. Best Buy, Amazon, Newegg and other retailers tend to offer sales on more specific models while manufacturers like HP, Lenovo and Dell usually host larger sales that cover more models and configurations. If you’re looking for a specific model, you’ll want to keep checking back weekly for the latest set of deals.
